By using 1.4307 you get a corrosion resistant austenitic stainless steel with good formability. The steel is modified for machining and is available in a wide range of profiles and dimensions. The steel is often used for details within building and construction, machining industry.
The steel grade 1.4307 (also called ASTM 304/ 304L – SS2333) is a general purpose stainless steel, called 18-8-steel, with good corrosion resistant, impact strength and formability. The steel has improved machinability by, MAXIVAL®, and it is suitable for production of corrosion resistant products by machining. It has good corrosion resistance to uniform corrosion and to many slightly corrosive organic and inorganic chemicals. It is non-magnetic but may become somewhat magnetic after cold working and welding.
Typical application areas for 1.4307:
Weldable and modified for machining
1.4307 is a stainless steel which usually is more difficult to machine than ordinary carbon steels, but thanks to MAXIVAL® it has improved machinability. It can be readily welded by a full range of conventional welding methods. 1.4307 cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but it can be hardened by cold working.
The steelworks has certificate as an approved material supplier of this steel grade from ABS, BV, DNV, GL, Lloyd’s and RINA.
We offer steel grade 1.4307 in the following profiles
Steel grade1.4307 is a available as machined round bar, drawn round bar, ground round bar, flat bar, angle bar, square bar, hexagon bar and rebar. It is available in dimensions 3 – 500 mm depending on profile and execution.
